From a single pool shop to one of Australasia’s largest pool and spa groups
Respected industry publication Splash! Magazine has commemorated Swimart’s 35th birthday with a special feature in its June/July edition. It’s another highlight for the company, which has become one of Australasia’s largest pool and spa specialist groups.
Starting in 1983 with a single retail store in Killara, NSW, Swimart has steadily grown into a trusted expert in pool and spa care – and hugely successful franchise – with 74 stores across Australia and New Zealand and a fleet of over 220 mobile service vans.
"We are an agile company that is customer focussed and service oriented, and we work closely with our franchise partners to educate pool and spa owners about how to get the most out of their investment," says Swimart Franchise Development Manager Alex Johnson.
Bucking the current trend Alex also attributes Swimart's success to its long-standing franchisees, including Bob Tully, Reg Blue and Murray Lonie, who have been with the franchise for up to and over 30 years!
Swimart’s key company milestones
1980 – Soon Sinn Goh migrates to Australia from Malaysia where he worked in his father’s civil engineering business which built reservoirs, water treatment plants and pipeworks for the Government of Malaysia
1983 – Acquires land/property at 554 Pacific Highway, Killara and commences business as a retail pool store trading as Swimart Killara
1986 – Commences business as a Franchisor
1987 – Welcomes first franchisee, John Pavett, at Miranda where he remains with Swimart till 2017 (right up until he passed away)
1988 – Expands by acquiring Swimworld Wholesale Pty Ltd, Swimworld Retail Pty Ltd and Poolquip Pty Ltd
2018 – Celebrates 35 years in business
