Multicyclone Plus Wows UK Pool Builders At 2011 Spatex Pool & Spa Show

With its dual stage filtration, ultra compact design, easy to maintain construction, and efficient use of water and energy, the swimming pool pre-filter and cartridge filter combined MultiCyclone Plus is revered as much for its versatility as it is for its commitment to sustainability.

So when two UK pool builders checked out the revolutionary system at the recent 2011 SPATEX Pool & Spa Show, they immediately saw an opportunity that would benefit both their clients and the environment.

“Having been involved in the pool industry for many years, it’s not often that you come across a truly unique product, but this is what has happened with the MultiCyclone Plus from Waterco,” says Craig Trusson from Horsham’s Home Counties Pools and Hot Tubs.

Since replacing an existing 24” sand filter on one of the display centre’s concrete pools – which holds 50m3 and has a depth of 1.2m – Craig says the company has “never looked back”.

“The quality of the water has been excellent and the compact installation means that the equipment area can be kept to a minimum,” he explains. “Best of all, the MultiCyclone Plus saves water and chemicals, and ticks all the environmental boxes.”

For The Pool and Spa Company’s Christina Mantoura, it was a combination of easy installation and minimal maintenance that separated MultiCyclone Plus from every other pool filtration system.

“Since installing both the standard MultiCyclone and the new revolutionary MultiCyclone Plus at our display centre in Sidcup, we have been thoroughly impressed with the performance of the units,” Christina says.

“The MultiCyclone Plus replaced an existing sand filter on our 50m3 pool and the water quality has never been better – it really is crystal clear,” she continues. “It’s a product that we are certainly going to be installing in the future as it fits in perfectly with our aim to provide pool owners with eco-friendly products.”

Tangible benefits

According to Tony Fisher, managing director of Waterco Europe, the benefits for both pool companies have been so tangible they’re now selling MultiCyclone Plus units to their customers.

“I’ve had fantastic feedback, with both pool builders commenting on the clarity of the water and the fact they’ve not had to clean the filter. Plus the equipment footprint has been greatly reduced,” Tony says.

“Both clients were using sand filters and because these wasted a lot of water when backwashing, when they saw the MultiCyclone Plus at SPATEX they immediately understood the environmental benefits.

“They specifically wanted the latest in environmentally-friendly products, and it had to be revolutionary, water saving, easy to install and simple to maintain. The MultiCyclone Plus has delivered all these benefits, in addition to saving on chemicals. Plus our clients have been able to promote their businesses as leading edge when offering this filtration solution to both new and existing pool owners,” adds Tony.

What makes MultiCyclone Plus so unique?

Combining centrifugal and cartridge filtration into one streamline housing, the MultiCyclone Plus creates an ultra compact pre-filtration and filtration system that can be vertically installed on a pool pump.

Using the most advanced hydro cyclone technology, the MultiCyclone Plus’s streamlined design means the entire filtration system reduces the footprint of the equipment pad. Additionally, minimal pipe work reduces the unit’s overall head loss. The MultiCyclone Plus is a safe, easy and cost effective way to save between 7,000 and 10,000 litres of pool water per year compared with sand filtration systems.
